Mercedes goes defensive with the G-Wagon LAPV 6.X

Mercedes-Benz’ security division – building armored vehicles for the past 80 years – has revealed its new G-Wagon LAPV 6.X concept armored 4×4. Utilizing the latest in armored patrol vehicle technology in coordination with military technology supplier EADS, this machine is built to conquer all types of terrain come hell or high water.

Powered by a diesel engine, the vehicle is capable of reaching 153 km/h while towing 3,000 pounds of cargo. Full steel body monocoque, ballistic protection, armored body plates, an individual tire inflation system, and mine deflector plates are some of the goodies used on the concept.

The LAPV 6.X is not expected to go into production at this point, but the technology could trickle down to some of the security division’s production vehicles like the S and E Class models. This is definitely one intimidating ride!
