BMW Gran Coupe gets the green light for production!

Trying to steal some of Audi’s A7 thunder before its official launch today, BMW’s Development Chief – Klaus Draeger – has confirmed that the BMW Gran Coupe has been approved for production. The car was first revealed as a concept at April’s Beijing Motor Show and was received very well internationally.

The Gran Coupe will be positioned between the 6-Series coupe and the 7-Series flagship model. It’s expected that the new model could be labeled as a 6-Series 4-door variant, with its sloping rear roofline and coupe-like demeanor which puts it in direct competition with the Mercedes CLS and the new Audi A7.

The car should arrive in 2012.
