Lancia Stratos revived!

A mysterious concept vehicle was caught testing around Italy’s Balocco test track some time in June. The word going around was that it could possibly be a new version of the legendary Lancia Stratos (pictured above in red & white livery) rally car. I had my doubts, but apparently the reports were true.

This one-off Stratos was commissioned by German entrepreneur Michael Stoschek and built by Italian design house Pininfarina. It’s rumored that Pininfarina are now considering a limited production run of 25 cars.

Based on a shortened chassis from the Ferrari F430 Scuderia, the Stratos uses the F430’s V8 engine mated to its sequential gearbox. Even though this isn’t an official Lancia production model, the Stratos will still remain one very rare and expensive car. As of date, there isn’t a wealth of info about the new model, but be expecting some updates in the near future.

Lets hope it does better than the kit car which was reviewed on Top Gear last season. It broke down twice!
