Official: Ferrari issue 458 Italia recall

Ferrari have issued a recall for all of the 458 Italia cars produced, following numerous reports of the cars catching fire. Ferrari flew its engineers around the world to investigate five incidents and as a result, Ferrari discovered a problem traced to the adhesive used in the wheel-arch assemblies, where the glue may overheat and catch fire.

In certain cases, the adhesive melting can cause the heat shield lining to deform and move closer to the exhaust, causing the lining to catch fire.

The Italian automaker is asking owners to bring their cars in to replace the adhesive with mechanical fasteners.

Ferrari is also replacing the cars of owners who first reported the fires caused by this defect. Could the 458 Italia be jinxed?
