Jordan promoting electric vehicles in partnership with Nissan. Innovative and admirable.

Nissan and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to promote electric cars within the country, making it the first agreement of its kind in the region.

Under the agreement, Nissan and the Jordanian government will promote electric vehicles as a “sustainable mobility solution”. Jordan’s government will also consider purchasing up to 300 units of Nissan’s LEAF (pictured above) for public sector utilization.

The Jordanian government is currently working on finalizing its electric vehicle standards, while also using the partnership to “explore renewable energy for electric vehicle charging using solar energy, the use of second-life batteries, as well as other new mobility concepts such as car-sharing”.

An admirable and innovative move by the Jordanian government in my opinion.
