Facebook not allowed! Porsche paranoid?

Porsche is on the verge of banning its employees from the social media storm. The German automaker believes that sites like Facebook, Twitter and others are detrimental to its safety. Even eBay might get the axe! So why are these sites of any concern to Porsche? It believes that there are foreign intelligence services who may be spying on employees and what they post on a day-to-day basis, which sometimes may be confidential.

We see bans such as this in the banking sector already, as well as other industries where information security is crucial. Should Porsche take a chill-pill or are they right to be concerned?

It’s a security concern if employees take a picture of secret test models and post it in Facebook or Twitter. 😉
