Kia to take on BMW’s M5… is this a joke?

I know that Kia Motors are on the way up and they definitely deserve some respect, but by no means do they have the ability or the “power to surprise” to pull a fast one on BMW. According to reports, the Korean automaker is set to unveil a 4-door sports car at next month’s Frankfurt Motor Show taking the fight to BMW’s M5. It’ll be based on the Hyundai Genesis platform with V8 power sent to the rear wheels.

“I’ve seen images of it and it’s stunning… Think VW Scirocco crossed with Ford Focus RS and you’re nearly there.’’ revealed a Kia spokesman.

Uh… um.. sorry to burst your bubble Kia, but that doesn’t even sound like an M5!

Don’t be surprised what those crazy Koreans can come up with. It (initially) won’t handle or ride as well as the M5. But they’ll probably give the M5 a run for its money “On Paper” for half the price.

I definitely don’t doubt their capabilities, hence why I mentioned in my post that they deserve to be respected. But here is where the source article goes wrong:

“Think VW Scirocco crossed with Ford Focus RS and you’re nearly there.’’

Those cars don’t even have 4-doors lol And looks won’t bring you the balance and experience BMW’s M Division delivers.

Since KIA and Hyundai are sister companies I have a STRONG feeling its gonna be based on the Veloster. 😉

I think you may be right with this one Mathai. The design cues they were describing (i.e. hatchback shape) sound like the much-anticipated Veloster. Guess we’ll have to wait and find out next month.

Yeah, I’ve gotta see it to believe it. I doubt it’ll have the timeless feel of a BMW too.
