Unified GCC license a reality?

I’m sure you’ve heard at one point or another that the GCC states are taking certain steps towards unification. One area being looked at is the potential implementation of a GCC license which would be valid for use throughout the member states. It’s also being fast-tracked with the development of a standardized test for applicants in the works, supposedly.

What’s quite annoying with the current setup is if a person holds a license issued by one GCC state, it’s technically valid in another for a limited period only.

So, is it a matter of time before this becomes a reality?
