The real Godzilla? Nissan’s Juke-R (w/videos)

If you know anything about the Skyline GT-R’s history, you’ll be quite aware that it was labeled in the past as “Godzilla“… Japan’s mythical monster. But Godzilla was never easy on the eyes, yet the current Skyline GT-R is. The Nissan Juke-R, on the other hand, ain’t as pretty. Call it awesome… call it ugly… call it what you want… it’s going to be one bad-ass machine! It’s already a hit on the world wide web, while having simultaneously built itself a massive cult following around the globe. Hell, I’m totally on board!

Based on the Juke crossover, the R version basically takes the heart (engine + transmission) of Godzilla (the Skyline GT-R) and its chassis as well. This thing’s already a beast without even having touched a highway yet. It’s also quite an admirable and ambitious project considering Nissan are aiming to complete it in 22 weeks.

The mechanical transformation is pure insanity with endless hours of work and detail put into the Juke-R. Not simply stopping at implanting the GT-R’s twin-turbo 480bhp 3.8-litre V6 engine, the guys at Nissan have modified and fitted the GT-R’s six-speed gearbox and four-wheel-drive system as well.

This “supercar crossover” also comes with a very aggressive bodykit, a split rear wing, carbon fiber bits and massive aerodynamic / cooling mods.

Nissan is only producing two versions of the Juke-R, one left-hand and one right-hand drive, with no aim of mass production. Maybe that would change with a strong reaction from the public. We’ll have to wait and see…

Is that you Godzilla???

I was also blown away by the project! The transformation should be awesome once the project is completed and the car hits the track!

I wouldn’t buy one and keep it forever, but I would probably drive one around for a month. I’ve always had a special spot in my heart for Nissan cars, and this is no exception.

The Juke-R is definitely one special project. Can’t wait till they complete it and release some performance videos!
