Oh mama! The 2013 Ford Shelby GT500 is insane!

Intimidated? You’re looking at the 2013 Ford Shelby GT500, packing the ‘most powerful production V8 in the world’. Come on… you know you’re scared.

The most powerful, you say? The Shelby GT500’s 5.8-liter supercharged V8 engine pumps out 650hp and 600lb-ft of torque, rocketing this car to a top speed north of 320km/h. (note – anyone else think that the end of that engine looks like Wall-E, the robot?)

Buyers may opt for the Performance Package – adds SVT-designed Bilstein electronic adjustable dampers and a Torsen limited-slip differential – and a Track Package, which comes with an external engine oil cooler, rear differential cooler and transmission cooler for more extreme driving. It doesn’t stop there… every vehicle system on the GT500 has been optimized including the powertrain, brakes, gearing and suspension.

The exterior plays host to new downforce-generating front grilles, splitter, a new quad exhaust system and two new forged-aluminum wheels. It also sports items from the 2013 Mustang range such as the new front fascia and redesigned taillights.

The interior is, as always with Mustangs, an understated affair. In my opinion, that’s probably a good thing because you’ll need all the concentration you can possibly muster to control this monster snake.

Thats amazing power output from a V8 but I wonder if they’re still using the same outdated rear axles from previous Mustangs. 😛
