Donkervoort’s D8 GTO

It seems like it’s the week of the Dutch here at Brake Banzeen… first the Savage Rivale and now the car you see here. Working closely with Audi, Donkervoort has unveiled its next open-top sports car: the D8 GTO.

In comparison to its predecessors, the closed-top GT and the open-top D8 270RS, the D8 GTO has grown in size. Why? To accommodate more power and a larger engine.

The previous models came with a 1.8-liter Audi engine, but now Donkervoort has upgraded to the TT-RS’s 2.5-liter which is 30 kg lighter. With 340 to 400hp on tap and a total weight of around 700 kilos, the Donkervoort D8 GTO is sure to be an insane track-carver.

The interior is spartan in appearance, with a race-ready look and feel. Production begins in 2012, with the price expected to sit in the €100,000 to €150,000 range. Wonder if it will ever make it out to our shores?

The video below showcases the D8 GTO’s development. Enjoy!

The “Donk” probably has loads of grip… would love to hit a curve behind the wheel with the throttle floored.
