Launched! The Viper is back!

The all-new 2013 SRT Viper has officially debuted at the New York Auto Show. Comprised of a much neater and tighter package, the Viper still retains its poisonous attitude while adding a lot of firsts for the car.

New to the Viper, the exterior recieves a new carbon fiber hood, roof, decklid and aluminum door panels which aid in weight reduction and high-speed stability. These weight-saving measures deserve a great power source, and they surely get it. An all-aluminum 8.4-liter V-10 engine mated to a Tremec 6-speed manual transmission sits mid-mounted, ready to deliver a whopping 640hp and 600lb.-ft. of torque. That makes this the most torque ever produced out of any naturally-aspirated engine in the world!

It’s not just all-go as the new Viper has proper stopping power in the form of four-piston Brembo brakes. The structure of the car is also 50% more torsionally rigid, with a new aluminum X brace under the hood tying the suspension pickup points to the magnesium cowl super casting contributing to the overall stiffness.

The new Viper’s interior is the most spacious one yet and it comes with new creature comforts like a 7-inch, full-color display and a Harman Kardon sound system. The interior also boasts high-performance Sabelt racing seats with a lightweight Kevlar/fiberglass shell, covered in leather and additional padding.

Has the Viper grown up? Yes. But that doesn’t mean that it still isn’t a beast.

@zdistrict: Definitely looks of higher quality… I’m sure the price will reflect this as well 😦

@Anas – GulfRun: I think it may take a bit of getting used to but once we see it in the flesh, we’ll probably have a different opinion.
