Demand for W Motors’ Arabian supercar has gone through the roof?

As per an announcement from W Motors, it seems that the Lykan Hypersport supercar has exceeded all expectations when it came to demand. Especially when one considers the heavy $3.4 million dollars price tag. W Motors was planning on only building seven units of the Lykan Hypersport, but after the 2013 Qatar Motor Show unveiling, have received more than 100 orders!

A 750hp mid-mounted twin turbo flat-six engine capable of achieving 0-100km/h times in 2.7 seconds and a top speed of 395km/h meant this car had very high ambitions from the start. Throw in the fact that it uses real diamonds and gold elements throughout the lighting components and interior, respectively, we all knew the car wouldn’t come cheap.

W Motors have been smart in their approach partnering up with credible entities such as the legendary RUF Automobile, Studiotorino and Magna Steyr.  And I truly believe, because of this, they have the goods to deliver. Current production will begin in Italy, with a phased move to either Dubai, Abu Dhabi or Doha.

One more point which I can’t help but wonder: is the use of a flat-six engine due to RUF Automobile’s influence? The most famous flat-sixes in the world come from Porsche, a brand which RUF has built its business model around. If so, the Lykan Hypersport just became that much more delicious.
